Mount Greylock is a 3,491 feet mountain located in the northwest corner of Massachusetts and it is the highest point in the state! The mountain is known for its expansive views. The auto road climbs to the summit, which houses a 93-foot-high lighthouse like Veterans War Memorial Tower. It is on Summit Road, Adams MA.
Trevor and I have taken many rides to Mount Greylock! It took four rides before we finally made it to the top!! Weather is a big factor here, and it changes in an instant!! On a recent ride we started in bright sunshine. About halfway up the mountain it got very dark and torrential rain hit us! Off the mount we went! By the time we got down the mountain, it was bright and sunny again!
We did finally make it to the top of the mountain on our last ride there and it is amazing! The views along the way are breathtaking and the War Memorial at the top is beautiful! From the peak, on a clear day, you can see as far as 90 miles away!
Our first ride here was very exciting, we saw two black bears right by the side of the road! I was so happy to see them, but of course, I was not prepared to see bears and was not ready with my camera, so I did not get a picture. But it still made for a memorable ride!!
The Park is open dawn to dusk, with visitor center hours 9am-4pm. There are restrooms at the visitor center. The auto road is seasonal and is open late May through October for scenic driving. There are many scenic viewing areas, great for picture taking!
Activities at this park include hiking, camping, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and educational programs. Camping is $8 per night for MA residents and $20 a night for non-residents. There are also group camping rates.
Pets must be always on a leash. No ATV or other off-road vehicles allowed on the trails. Drones are also not allowed in the park.
Other fun things to do in the North Adams MA area:

North Adams and the Berkshire are beautiful and there are so many things to do! I cannot wait to go back and explore the Natural Bridge State Park and the Cascade Waterfall!
